Higher SPF Value Means Better? – Pt 4

As the UVA rays penetrate very deep into the skin causing ’progressive’ injuries such as wrinkles and premature aging, unlike the UVB injuries which are ‘immediate’ and fear not, there is actually a rating system for UVA. It is called the PA rating system, but unfortunately, it is currently not being recognized by the American FDA. UVA is the most prevalent and accounts for >90% of the total UV rays that reach to earth and UVA can easily penetrate through glass and cloud.

I have seen some SPF claiming as high as 130, but you should only choose for SPF of 30 as mentioned in the previous part ( Part 2 ) of this article as anything higher is just superficial. Sunscreen or sunblocks can also come in many forms such as sprays, waxes or powders apart from the lotions/gels. Some people may be allergic to the PABA and Oxybenzone and if this the case, try switching to other brand as naturally you will find that it suitable to your skin – not too sticky and comfortable to your skin.
